Celebration History
Celebration Halifax - Celebration Band
Event History
About twelve years ago Sue and I were encouraged, by our Vicar Revd. Dr Stephen Croft (Archbishop's Missioner) to attend Spring Harvest. Initially we declined, however, God had other plans. Through His grace, and financial help from a relative, we were able to attend our first Spring Harvest.
That year, Clive Calver was preaching. During one of the evening Celebrations he enquired if any one wanted to make a difference for God where they lived to stand, a simple request which Sue and I responded to. People around prayed for us and we went on our way thinking about what we could actually do to make that difference. We were so wowed by the whole experience of Spring Harvest, especially the worship, which was lead that year by Noel Richards. We believe that God was calling us to bring this worship experience to Halifax.
After contacting Noel Richards, he agreed to come to Halifax the following year. The first event filled a school hall with over 400 people, making the evening a great success.
The following year we booked the Leisure Centre in Halifax, which could hold a capacity of 1200 people, this is where the event has become an established Christian celebration.
Each year we have endeavoured to invite different Worship Leaders to appear alongside Noel, which include:-
Matt Redman, Tim Hughes, Robin Mark, Stuart Townend, Phatfish (AKA Stoneleigh Band) ,Dave Bilbrough, Wayne Drain (U.S.A), Kate Simmonds, Paul Oakley,Chris Bowater and Viola Grafstrom.
Out of this event sprung another vision to form a Praise & Worship Band, providing a service for churches without a band, who may wishing to hold a celebration evening, concert or outreach event
